Harvested 7 males. Remaining male plants BBX-01, BBX-08, and BBX-04. BBX-04 I topped removing the flowering part of the plant. I isolated BBX-01 along with BBX-02. All remaining plants are with BBX-08 which has started to drop pollen.
BBX-17 Plant Assessment Overall health The leaves are predominantly green, and the growing tip is active. I don't see obvious widespread leaf damage or severe discoloration. The images alone cannot confirm root health or nutrient status. Structure and branching BBX-17 has an upright main stem, several lateral branches, and reasonably developed nodes. The canopy is somewhat open, with a strong central growing tip. We need height, width, and internodal measurements to determine how it compares structurally with the other males. Sex and reproductive development The rounded, ribbed structures at the nodes are consistent with male pollen sacs. They appear to be developing, but the photographs don't establish pollen viability or whether any sacs have opened.
BBX-09 Plant Assessment 1. Sex identification — confirmed male The clusters of elongated, pale green sacs hanging from the nodes and the developing flower clusters at the top are characteristic male structures. I don't see the white pistils expected from female flowers in these photos. 2. Structure — tall and strongly stretched BBX-09 has a long central stem with widely spaced nodes and relatively sparse growth along the upper stem. That is worth recording, although the 20/4 indoor-to-outdoor transition and differences in light exposure may contribute to the stretch. 3. Pollen development — advanced Many sacs are visibly developed, but I cannot confirm from these images whether any have opened. Watch for sacs that split into several sections and release fine yellowish pollen.
BBX-11 Plant Assessment Node structures: Several pointed, leaf-like projections are visible. These could be stipules and developing growth rather than definitive male or female flowers. No clearly confirmed pollen sacs: I don't see the same obvious clusters of rounded, hanging sacs that we saw on BBX-09. No unmistakable pistils: I can't confidently identify a pair of fine white hairs emerging from a calyx in these photos. Plant structure: BBX-11 has a reasonably upright main stem with developing side branches. It's too early to score its breeding value from structure alone.
BBX-12 Plant Assessment 1. Overall vigor The foliage is predominantly green, and the plant has active growth at the top and nodes. I don't see obvious severe nutrient deficiency, major leaf damage, or pronounced wilting in these photos. 2. Structure and branching BBX-12 has an upright central stem and developing lateral branches. Its overall architecture appears workable, but I would like to compare internodal spacing and branch strength against BBX-09 and your other candidates. 3. Male flower development Multiple clusters of oval pollen sacs are visible at the nodes, including hanging sacs on short stalks. This confirms male sex and shows active reproductive development. It does not, by itself, establish pollen viability or genetic quality. 4. Leaf health Most leaves look green and reasonably intact. The lighting creates some bright highlights, so subtle color differences are difficult to assess. I don't see enough evidence to diagnose a specific nutrient problem.
BBX-06 Plant Assessment 1. Vigor and structure Upright main stems with several lateral branches. Relatively open spacing between some nodes. Active growth at the upper tips. Assessment: Reasonable visible vigor. Actual growth rate and stem strength remain unmeasured. 2. Foliage health A couple of lower leaves are distinctly yellow, while most upper foliage remains green. Monitor whether the yellowing spreads. The photos alone cannot distinguish normal aging from a nutrient or root-zone issue. 3. Reproductive development Several fine, pale, hair-like structures are visible at the nodes, especially in the third photograph. These appear consistent with female pistils, unlike the rounded, ribbed pollen sacs documented on BBX-01, BBX-03, BBX-04, and BBX-05. Preliminary classification: probable female. Confirm that the hairs emerge from individual calyxes as the structures develop.
BBX-18 Plant Assessment Overall health Most leaves have a healthy green appearance. The newest growth is lighter, which is common, and I don't see clear evidence of severe nutrient damage. Some leaf surfaces look slightly uneven, so monitor whether that persists as the leaves mature. Structure and branching The plant has an upright central stem, several lateral branches, and a relatively compact top. Branch development looks balanced in the photos, although we need measurements to compare its architecture fairly with the other candidates. Sex identification The close-up shows small structures at the node, but they aren't developed or clear enough in this image to confidently identify pollen sacs or female flowers. I would keep BBX-18's sex marked as pending confirmation until a sharper, focused node photo is available.
BBX-05 Plant Assessment 1. Vigor and structure Upright main stem with active upper growth. Moderate lateral branching. Relatively open structure, with noticeable spacing between some nodes. Assessment: Good visible growth; actual growth rate and stem strength still need comparison with the other candidates. 2. Foliage health Most foliage appears green and reasonably well formed. A few lower leaves are yellowing, which is worth monitoring. The photos alone don't establish whether this is normal aging, a nutrient issue, or another stressor. 3. Reproductive development Multiple clusters of elongated, ribbed structures are visible, including at the upper growth tip and lower stem junctions. Their shape and arrangement are strongly consistent with developing male flowers.
BBX-01 Plant Assessment 1. Overall vigor BBX-01 has an upright main stem, established lateral branches, and active growth at multiple nodes. No obvious severe wilting or major structural damage is apparent. 2. Structure and branching Observation: Relatively tall, upright growth with noticeable spacing between several nodes and multiple lateral branches. Assessment: Record the current architecture and compare it with the other BBX1 plants. Internode spacing alone doesn't establish genetic quality. 3. Foliage and health Observation: Leaves are predominantly green and reasonably well developed. Some leaf droop or angle variation may be influenced by sunlight and the time of day. Assessment: No clear, severe nutrient deficiency or pest damage is evident in these photographs. A closer inspection of leaf undersides would help assess pests. 4. Reproductive development Observation: Multiple clustered, rounded structures are visible at the nodes. Assessment: These are strongly consistent with developing male flowers. Record the observation, but keep reproductive development separate from the overall plant-quality score.
BBX-02 Plant Assessment 1. Vigor and overall health The foliage is predominantly green, with active growth at the top and along the branches. I don't see obvious severe wilting or major leaf damage. 2. Structure BBX-02 has a reasonably upright central stem and several developing lateral branches. Its overall shape appears more compact in the third photo than BBX-01 did in the earlier whole-plant image, although camera angle and plant orientation affect that comparison. 3. Foliage Most leaves appear well formed, with good green coloration. Some of the newer growth is lighter green, which is common. I don't see enough evidence here to diagnose a nutrient issue. 4. Reproductive development The close-up of the node shows small emerging structures, but I can't confidently classify them as male or female from this image alone. I would leave BBX-02's sex recorded as undetermined until clearer structures develop.
BBX-08 Plant Assessment Current status: Shortlisted Sex confidence: High Flower development: Multiple visible pollen-sac clusters Plant structure: Upright main stem with visible branching Health: Generally green; some lower-leaf yellowing is visible in the wider grow photos Aroma: Not yet evaluated Breeding value: Undetermined pending comparison
BBX-07 Plant Assessment Sex identification The close-up shows thin, white, hair-like structures emerging from the developing flowers. These are consistent with female pistils rather than the rounded, ribbed pollen sacs seen on your confirmed male candidates. Plant structure and vigor BBX-07 has upright growth, several developing branches, and active new growth. The lower foliage is somewhat paler than the upper foliage, but these photos don't establish a specific nutrient problem.
BBX-10 Plant Assessment Fine, pale projections that look like emerging pistils. No obvious clusters of rounded, hanging pollen sacs in the close-up node photo. The upper growth is crowded, so some structures are difficult to distinguish with certainty.
BBX-16 Plant Assessment Overall health The leaves are mostly green, and the plant has active growth. Some lower foliage appears lighter than the upper growth, but the lighting and photographs aren't sufficient to diagnose a nutrient issue. Structure and branching BBX-15 has an upright central stem with several lateral branches. The stem and nodes appear reasonably developed, although some spacing is relatively open. We would need measurements and comparison with the other plants to judge whether its structure is advantageous. Male flower development The nodes show multiple oval, stalked pollen sacs, and the top has a dense cluster of developing male flowers. Some sacs look mature in size, but the photos don't confirm whether pollen has been released or whether it is viable.
BBX-04 Plant Assessment 1. Vigor and foliage Substantial green foliage for its apparent size. Active growth at the top and side branches. No obvious severe wilting or extensive leaf damage. 2. Structure BBX-04 appears more compact and bushy than BBX-03, which had a more open, elongated structure. This is a preliminary visual comparison; we still need actual height, width, and node-spacing measurements. 3. Reproductive development The upper cluster is unusual enough to warrant another close look. It could represent tightly grouped developing flowers, but the image doesn't show enough detail to reliably confirm male flowers or rule out other reproductive structures. The lower node photo is also inconclusive.
BBX-03 Plant Assessment 1. Vigor and structure Upright central stem with multiple lateral branches. Relatively open growth pattern with noticeable spacing between some nodes. Active growth at the upper tips. Preliminary rating: Good visible vigor; branch strength and growth rate still need comparison with the other plants. 2. Leaf health The foliage is mostly green, with some lighter newer growth. A few lower leaves appear paler than the upper leaves, but the lighting makes color assessment difficult. I don't see enough evidence to diagnose a nutrient deficiency from these photos. 3. Reproductive development The second photograph shows elongated, ribbed sacs hanging from short stalks, while other clusters are developing above them. This is strongly characteristic of male flowers. Preliminary classification: Probable male, high confidence from the visible structures.
BBX-15 Plant Assessment Overall health The leaves are mostly green, and the plant has active growth.
BBX-13 Plant Assessment Overall health The foliage is predominantly green, and the plant has active growth at the top and along the branches. I don't see obvious severe leaf damage or pronounced wilting. The photos aren't sufficient to assess roots or nutrient status. Structure and branching BBX-13 has an upright main stem and several developing lateral branches. Its architecture looks reasonably balanced in the available photos, although we need measurements to judge stretch, internodal spacing, and branch strength. Reproductive development The close-up shows several oval, stalked pollen sacs at the node. This is clear evidence of male flowers. Some sacs are well developed, but the images don't establish pollen viability or whether any have opened.
BBX-14 Plant Assessment Overall health The foliage is mostly green, and the plant has active growth at the top and along its branches. I don't see obvious severe leaf damage or pronounced wilting. The lowest leaves show some color variation, but the images aren't sufficient to diagnose a nutrient issue. Structure and branching BBX-14 has a fairly upright central stem and several developing lateral branches. Its structure appears reasonably balanced, though actual height, canopy width, and stem strength would help us evaluate it fairly against the other candidates. Sex and reproductive development The node close-up doesn't clearly show either paired pistils or unmistakable rounded pollen sacs. I would keep BBX-14's sex recorded as undetermined until the structures develop further.

The important thing is that I don’t see an obvious nutrient deficiency, pest damage, disease, or serious seedling stress in these photos. The biggest difference right now is vigor/size, not apparent health. The rough visual vigor leaders are BBX-01, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09 and 12/14, while BBX-02, 07, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are currently on the smaller side. I would not interpret the size differences as genetic performance yet. At this stage, emergence timing and early-root development can create substantial differences that may disappear over the next several days. This gives us the visual baseline. Once you provide the height and width measurements you mentioned, I’ll be able to turn this into the more useful plant-by-plant quantitative Oct. 7 baseline and compare subsequent photos against each individual plant rather than against the group average.
