First Grow ever! Tipps & Kritik nehm ich sehr gerne an <3

Hey everyone! Bought the Auto Skittlez. I’m a complete beginner and this is my first grow ever. I’d really appreciate any tips or feedback! I’m happy to take the time to read through them.

The girls are in a 60x60x180 tent under a VIPARSECTRA XS1500 Pro. (50cm distance at 20% power) I germinated the seeds 7 days ago on the 15th in a BioBizz LightMix layer directly in the 11l final fabric pot with these two plastic bottle domes on top. I filled about 80% of the pot with BioBizz AllMix so I don’t have to add any nutrients at the start.

So far everything is going well I think, only the humidity is giving me a bit of trouble since it often drops below 50%, which is why I turned off the exhaust fan for now, that way I reach 60-70%. Temps are always between 26-29 degrees Celsius with lights on and 22-24 degrees with lights off.

I’m new here in the community and would love to share my experience with everyone and see others’ as well. I’ll keep you updated and wish you a great rest of the week!

UPDATE: Just removed the plastic domes and read that you can set the circulating fan so that the plants move. Found a good sweet spot where both of them move. (not too light, not too strong, but a light rhythmic fluttering) Hope no wind burn shows up.

I’m slightly shocked… :face_with_peeking_eye::sweat_smile:

In my opinion, the exhaust and circulation fans should and must run 24/7.

You could use transparent party cups instead of bottles. If you spray the cups, you’ll have your humidity. :slightly_smiling_face:
But you can also buy a cheap humidifier on Amazon. You shouldn’t drop below 50% in the first two weeks.

Other than that, I can also give you the tip not to water too much. In the early stage, you should only water around the plant.

If the internodal spacing gets too large and they stretch too far, hang the light a little lower or increase the power.

The Allmix might be a bit too hot and cause yellow leaf tips over the next few weeks. That shouldn’t be too bad though. Otherwise, it looks quite good.

As for the wind… don’t point it directly at them. Better to let it blow against the tent walls. Even at this stage, wind is rather secondary. In my opinion, humidity and temperature are primary during the first two weeks of the seedling stage.

Thanks for your opinion & tips! Yeah I can believe that you’re shocked xD But oh well, it’s my first time. Hope everything goes well  I’ll definitely keep posting updates!

It’ll be fine. Cannabis is purely a learning process :slightly_smiling_face:

UPDATE: 4 days ago, I gave 2L of pH-regulated water to each pot once to moisten them evenly and completely. The pot is still quite moist at the bottom and I will wait a bit before watering again. Unfortunately, I can’t judge whether I should water yet or not since I have no idea how deep the roots reach, but slowly the little ones are getting bigger! One of them is unfortunately lagging 2 days behind and doesn’t look very happy. It shows brownish spots along the leaf veins and light yellowish dots (marked in red). The other one is doing fine as far as I can tell.

In this case, as a rule of thumb, roughly the size of the leaf mass above ground is approximately the root expansion in the soil. However, our ladies are deep-rooters whose strong taproots grow deep first, while the fine network forms closer to the top.

And at your rather early stage, the root mass is actually larger than the leaf mass, as it is mainly focusing on taking root at the moment.

If you are unsure, stick your index finger into the soil up to the second knuckle; if it’s dry, water. If it’s wet, don’t water.

Except for the marked spots, where I unfortunately can’t help, both of them look good for their age.

The first one has slightly wavy leaves, which to me even looks like slight overwatering, but I could be wrong.

I would even say, don’t water just yet.
But you have to decide that based on the soil moisture.

Good luck :four_leaf_clover: :face_blowing_a_kiss::victory_hand:t3:

@KilliczGe Hi, thanks for your opinion! I’m really glad you take the time to read through my log  so I also write some things with AI and apparently it could be that the AllMix is still too hot for the young roots, which is why these spots are appearing. I’ll see how she develops over the coming weeks. Best regards

That might actually be the case.

Next time, maybe make a hole in the middle and put Light Mix in there.
Or start in Light Mix, max 1L pot depending on the situation, I’d say.
And transplant after two weeks.

However, with automatics, that requires practice, timing, and a delicate touch.

So rather fill it with Light Mix and put the seed in there.

At this point, obviously difficult

It’ll be fine.

Yeah, you said it. I’ve read a lot that autos can be very finicky and sensitive

At first I thought about starting in a cut-off iced tea bottle, but then I thought whatever, just straight into the final pot. The 11L pot did have a roughly 4-5cm layer of LightMix on top, but that was probably too little.

Next time I’ll go deeper with the LightMix instead of just putting a thick layer on top.

Yeah, automatics, I’m also still figuring out what works best for me.

Have light intensity and distance been adjusted by now? The first five-fingered leaves should be coming soon, then you can also turn the light up a bit higher.

From then on, growth will get noticeably faster too.:victory_hand:t3:

5cm is pretty little.
I currently have the top third filled with Light mix.

You can press a pot into the soil as a placeholder, or bury it and fill it up with Light mix there.

Let me see if I have a picture.

Like this, just with an appropriately sized small pot

Well, unfortunately I don’t have a PPFD meter yet, so for now I’m still using my phone with the Photon app and a piece of printer paper as a diffuser. It currently shows 220 PPFD. The lamp is 50cm away from the leaves and set to 20%.

Yes, that’s exactly how I want to do it next time  :flexed_biceps:

At least a rough guideline.

If you’re unsure about that, I usually use this as a guide.

But over time, I’ve roughly figured out what percentage at what distance gives me about the power I need.

Cheers.

Waiting is the hardest part

Nice, thanks for the table  I’ll post updates every few days, if you’re interested feel free to check it out <3

Definitely.
If I can help, gladly.

And sure, the progress of others interests me just as much as my own learning curve.
Always nice to be able to share one’s half-knowledge for a change.
That way, the synapses connect better too

Autoflowers have very little room for error, you have to take good care of them. Do some research and read, that will help you apply things in this grow or for future ones, or watch videos if you’re too lazy to read, but text guides give you much more information. I hope it’s a good grow :ok_hand:t2:

Thanks @loveweed ! I also hope it turns out reasonably well with the two of them. I think I will stay away from autos in the future. That way I can decide for myself when the right time is for flowering and fix minor deficiencies.

My synapses haven’t been working properly for a long time  But very fascinating to watch them grow. Really nice to see how the little ones get bigger day by day haha :heart_hands:
