Super random, but I love to cook and know this is a worldwide forum so wanted if anyone has a go to dish or recipe they’d like to share? I have a ton as I have 4 kids and live in California so too expensive to eat out often, but here’s one I’ve been doing for a while that’s always a hit:

-3-5 lb tri tip, freeze for an hour so it’s easy to slice
-slice as thin as possible against the grain
-marinate in big ziplock bag 1-24 hours in a teriyaki marinade. I do mine homemade with soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, fresh diced green onion, etc
-skewer the slices of tri tip, folding in half or maybe even three for the bigger pieces. Essentially you end up with a couple big kebabs
-bbq on high, rotating the skewers as you go.
-once the outsides have a nice char, pull off and serve. The end pieces of the skewer are well done, middle of skewer medium rare so everyone can choose what they like
-can be served with sticky rice and charred veggies or mixed right in to your normal chicken and rib bbq spread

I have a recipe that can be made with anything, and it always goes very well.
You need any piece of meat weighing more than a kilo (chicken, beef, pork, whatever); place it on a baking tray, with onions, garlic and bell peppers, a splash of red wine, and spices (bay leaf, salt, and black peppercorns safe). You can also add mustard and honey, tomato, rosemary, ketchup, whatever you can think of. Once everything is on the tray, cover it very well with aluminum foil, without leaving any free spaces.
The important thing is to cook it for between 15 and 20 minutes over high heat, and then leave it for at least two and a half hours over low heat. The meat is left falling apart, ideal for sandwiches, tacos, or to accompany with some garnish.

Sounds awesome, I’ve done something similar with a beef chuck or a whole chicken. You could probably even make a killer gravy with those drippings. Thanks for sharing!

I like making garlic parmesan risotto with bacon pieces. You can use arborio rice but it’s expensive, long grain white rice works too

Never tried that but I’ll have to try it! Sounds like you could put some sliced chicken breast in that too like how you do with fettuccine

I dont remember who taught me but it can be used as a snack or desert and real easy to make.
Take a small container of small curd cottage cheese , small tub of whip cream ( not the spray can ) and a box of instant jello mix. Put it all in a bowl mix thoroughly , chill and serve.
Ive even put some fruit in it once and awhile , crushed pineapple is good. You can adjust what you put in bit good withnjust the basics.

I live next to Knotts berry farm and they have amazing funnel cakes year round. For the dump cake I do, you get a 13x9 pan, grease it with butter, dump a big can of crushed pineapple evenly on the bottom, the spread cherry pie cherries on top of that, spread a whole bag of white cake mix on top of that, spread crushed walnuts on top of that, then drizzle a whole stick of melted butter on top. 350 for an hour. That’s it, no mixing or anything just layer it in. It’s amazing and put you right into a diabetic coma :rofl::rofl:

Oh it’s outstanding. The juices soak up into the cake mix and it makes such a nice crust. You won’t regret making it lol
