I wish I hadn’t cut half of it xD thank you very much, at least I’ll be able to get some seeds ![]()
She’s still growing, so it’ll add up to quite a bit.
Phew, what great news, I had really given up, I chopped half the plant and threw it away so height wouldn’t be an issue, I was thinking of taking cuttings from two branches, revegging them, flowering them, reversing them xD total madness honestly, what luck, at least the air layering idea kept it alive long enough to get pollen sacs xD I’ll keep asking you if you don’t mind as questions come up, I’d like to save some
Fire away, I’m happy to help if I can
You’re a beast haha perfect, you already have a positive test, congratulations man.
I really like your idea with the cup, I’ll be using that at some point. Thank you.
@terrona1971 hahaha thanks, I’m really glad I pulled it off, I hope the rest keeps going just as well.
@Crackadoo thanks, it’s the first time I’m making seeds, I thought it was a good idea to collect as much pollen as possible.
I don’t know how long until they open up, one branch is about a week behind the other @herr_gruen do you know how much longer it might take?
The way they look, they’ll open soon. If you look closely, you can already see the white of the petals. Toward the end it always goes fast, maybe the first ones will open as soon as tomorrow. The cups should catch the pollen well, I would tap out the opened flowers before removing the cup.
I’ll keep an eye out, any advice for storing several parts for different occasions?
Do you just want some pollen or to pollinate the whole plant? Since it’s poisoned you can’t smoke it anyway.
Looking at it that way, I would grow it without a cup and shake out the whole thing over parchment paper towards the end. You can also stretch aluminum foil over a table and shake it over that to collect the pollen. Afterwards, let it dry a bit and pack it in portions. The shelf life should be 3-6 months in the fridge and up to 1 year in the freezer.
That’s right, it doesn’t have many flowers either, remember I was going to throw it away and I cut it in half lol but I do want to save pollen if possible in several portions to pollinate future plants that I like.
So making several little aluminum foil balls should work to put them in the freezer.
The little cups are there so pollen falls in there if they open, I only have 2 small branches so it’s not like it’s a lot and I wanted to collect as much as possible, in the other tent I have 3 that just finished the stretch, but I didn’t see anything that makes me want to get seeds from them, only the exodus and save the rest for when I like them
I ask myself, is it worth so much trouble with the availability we have to get seeds nowadays??? Out of boredom or necessity, I get it.
You should make sure to protect the pollen from moisture when packaging it. Maybe foil, a paper towel to absorb moisture, and foil again? If the pollen gets damp, it is ruined.
Trust me, it’s worth it ![]()
Great, I’ll do that
I would say so, first of all it’s fun if you enjoy taking care of plants, it keeps you entertained, you do new things, then there’s the part where you get seeds, 3 Exodus Cheese cost €30, just 3, and I’ll get tons of them, plus I’ll save the leftover pollen, and when I really like a strain in flowering, I just need to pollinate a few lower branches to get seeds and make crosses, also if anyone wants I can trade or give them seeds.
